Children of Men - Street War Sequence (The End)
Long continuous shot of street war.
Scene motivations: In previous scene they take rest as they plan to handover Kee to the “Human Project”, a supposed scientific group in Azores dedicated to curing infertility. As Siridjan will help to show the route. As already it established the whole city was full of immigrants and immigrant right group known as “The Fishes”. Exchange firing between Soldiers and Fishes. Show they have to escape from the city without hurting Kee and her Child.
Camera intent: Overall the whole sequence is a covered in a single shot. Overall whole sequence have hand-held movement. Wherever Char goes camera always follows. Look like some war cinematographer shoot a movie.
Camera movement & continuity:
From s1 to s10 camera is at alley.Initially camera is still at s1 but when all char enters at camera frame camera start to move behind them.
Then from s11 to s20 Siridjan leads them to a courtyard, Camera also follow them.From the fog Patric came to the scene saying drop your gun. Camera slow down.
from s21 camera follow Patric until s24, as he move towards Theo and hit a punch at his stomach. Theo sit down with pain. He was about to kill him then suddenly a voice appear from background "Don't kill him".
- s25 Camera pan fast towards left of screen looking for the voice came from.
- s26 Luke and a fisher came to the screen. The wake fast towards Theo and Kee.
- s27 and s28 when they came near to camera camera follows them.
- s29 Luke to Kee "you put their lives at risk". from s29 to s32 camera hold for some moment but hand-held feeling still there.
- s33 Camera move slight left, as it shows Luke hustle away Kee towards a building.
- s34 same as s33 but here Patric come closer and shoot Siridjan. Siridjan dies immediately.
- s35 suddenly firing started from camera direction they move forward and screen right camera follows them till s38.
- s39 Camera started to pull out and move towards right.
- s40 As we see Theo Hustle away Marichka from that place and running forward right of screen. As camera also move forward started to follow them until s43.
- s44 camera still move forward right but very slowly. As we see Theo take some breath.
- s45 Theo looks at road all Fishes firing at Soldiers.
- s46 On the road Fishes firing Camera move towards screen right.
- s47 As Theo cross in front of camera.
- s48 Showing hands to Marichka. Says to stop there.
- s49 to s56 Theo looks towards road started to run again and also Camera started to follow Theo from behind. In the end Camera move around Theo towards screen right.
- s57 to s61 Theo again start to run across the road and jumps on a building debris. Camera track and move towards screen right.
- s62 to s64 Camera move closer to Theo and move towards screen right where Theo looking at.
- s65 to s69 As Theo walk faster towards road then slow down near burned out double-decker. Then he saw Patric came towards him and started firing at him. Camera started to move forward and move left.
- s70 to s74 then he move back and jumps inside double-decker. two tank started firing at Fishes and they move to a building. Camera also follow Theo inside double-decker.
- s75 Theo looks outside. Camera move forward right.
- s76 Camera move closer and more right.
- s77 to s79 Camera started to follow Theo again but move sometime right sometime left.
- s80 to s82 Camera move slowdown as Theo stop and looks towards a building across the road. at s81, s83 Camera track in more closer to Theo.
- s83 to s85 Camera follow Theo as he run across the road and jumps on a debris again.
- s86 to s87 Camera track in more closer to Theo. Closeup Theo looks back. towards screen.
